Snake Bite Testimonial

Dr. Abrams,

Just a few stories of our use of electric shock treatment for snake bites, insect stings & mosquito bites.

We are located in the Mountains on the island of Palawan in the Philippines. In our area are spitting cobras, crates and a snake which is known as the sun-down snake because it's victim is said to die before the sun goes down. the following is a description of electro shock therapy on such bites.

1. In this instance a palawano was bitten by a snake at night. The type of snake was unknown but it left the distinctive two fang marks that is normal for a poisonous snake. It apparently was a young snake because the fang marks were only about 1/4 inch apart. The location of the bite was on his bare foot. Shock treatment, using the Zapper which is produced by SIL was begun within 1 minute of the snake bit and continued for about 5 minutes. Voltage was high enough to cause to leg to shake. the next morning the victim stopped by our home and said the only ill effect he had experienced was a very small amount of swelling of his foot and itching.

2. We recieved word that an individual had been bitten by what was probably a waglers pit viper. The snake was only about 2 feet long but very large in circumferance. The location of the bite was on the hip on bare skin. since he was located 2 hours hike from our location. News of the incident was delayed and we were unable to treat the bite immediatly. 24 hours later Caleb Duckett arrived on the scene and administered electro shock treatment with the zapper. The swelling was from the victims knee all the way to his shoulder. At the time of treatment the patient said that there was a noticably decrease in pain. A week later we returned. the patient had recovered however a necrotic area about 4 inches across and half an inch deep had rotted away. We cleaned and disinfected the wound and his recovery was complete.

3. Various other times we have used the zapper to treat various types of insect stings. It seems to always relieve the pain. We have also used it on mosquito bites and find that the itching is usually relieved.

From what we have seen so far we will always use the zapper if it is available. So far it seems to be effective.

Bee Sting Testimonial

Dr. Abrams,

Maybe this is something that you can use on your site. I am really not sure what to say, so I'll state the facts.

I am involved in beekeeping, and I was working in the bees one summer day when a honey bee crawled into my veil and stung me on the neck to the right of my throat. It began to swell, so I walked far enough away from the bees that were stirred up. My boss, who was with me at the time, gave me three zaps on the neck with the stun gun. Since the neck is a dangerous place to get stung, we immediately traveled to the nearest clinic where we where given some benadryl an hour later.

The sting gradually healed over three weeks due to its location, and there was no additional swelling or any other complications. Today, my neck is healed as if nothing had happened.

The first few moments of a bee sting are the most critical, and the stun gun, applied within ten minutes of the sting, certainly helped prevent additional swelling.

Bee Sting Testimonial

Dear Dr. Abrams,

I have been diagnosed as being hyper-sensitive to the stings of bees and wasps. Multiple stings on multiple occasions since early childhood, have resulted in my system becoming extremely vulnerable to even one sting. Within 3 minutes of being stung, my vision begins to �tunnel� and cloud, and my respiratory system begins to fail . On several occasions, I was taken to a medical clinic or emergency room, for immediate administration of epinephrine, to counter-act the effect of a wasp or bee sting. For nearly 10 years, I have carried an epinephrine injection device with me almost everywhere, especially when doing any sort of outdoors activity. I have had to use this device many times, as I am often working outside in an area where there is a very large and active wasp population.

I recently purchased one of your �stun-gun� treatment devices, to use as a backup for my epinephrine injection. Yesterday, I was severely stung on the hand by a large yellow-jacket wasp, while picking corn in my garden. The sting resulted in instant, severe pain and swelling. I immediately went into the house, got my epi-injector and �stun-gun� device, and sat down at the kitchen table. I had the epi-injector there as back-up, but determined to give the �stun-gun� treatment a try.

I administered about six, 1-second shocks to the bite-site, and waited. This was now about 1 or 2 minutes since I had been stung. After 5 minutes, I was quite surprised to find that I was experiencing virtually none of the severe reactions which I have come to expect from a wasp sting. My breathing was normal, my vision was normal, and I had only slight swelling at the bite-site. I put a small ice-pack on the bite to counter the swelling, but after a minute or two, discarded that as well. After another 5 minutes, I was feeling no ill effects of the sting, and so I returned to the garden, and finished picking corn.

As I write this letter, it is now more than 12 hours since I was stung. I have experienced no side-effects whatsoever from the sting, or from the treatment with the �stun-gun� device. My hand is not swollen, and there is only the slightest bit of soreness at the site of the sting. And, it was great to NOT experience the initial, heart-pounding rush of the epinephrine injection, which is always followed by a feeling of exhaustion and weakness.

I want to thank you for making the �stun-gun� device available. Having now experienced, first-hand, the amazing treatment capabilities of this device, I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who might encounter any type of venomous insects. This device WORKS!
